Bump on areola
Hello Doctor, I am unmarried age 25 , last month October 2025 my breast usg scan was normal and I had a small bump on my areola that first appeared on November 17. It drained white pus when I squeezed it at that time. The skin had mostly healed, but a small soft raised bump remained. Today, I squeezed it again and a tiny amount of white material and a little blood came out, likely because the area became irritated. The bump is still soft, skin-colored, and not painful. Could you please advise if this is still consistent with a clogged Montgomery gland or pimple that is irritated from squeezing? Do I need any treatment, and how should I care for it now to help it heal properly? Thank you.

Locally  apply  mupirocin ointment with fucidine ointment in  1: 1 ratio. 5 days. If redness, part is hot go to  general surgeon.  Stop squeeze.  Hot water fomentation with boric powder 4 pinches, three times.

From your description and the images, this appears most consistent with a clogged Montgomery gland / small areolar pimple that has been irritated due to repeated squeezing. These glands can get blocked and drain whitish material, and mild redness or a small soft bump may persist for some time. The fact that your breast USG was normal and the bump is soft, skin-coloured and not painful is reassuring. At this stage, it does not look worrisome and usually settles with simple care as long as the area is left undisturbed.
Next Steps
• Avoid squeezing or pressing the area further — this delays healing and can cause infection. • Apply a warm compress 1–2 times daily for 5–7 days. • You may apply a topical antibiotic (mupirocin / fusidic acid) twice daily for 5 days if there is mild redness. • Keep the area clean and dry; avoid friction from tight clothing. • If the bump becomes painful, rapidly increases in size, becomes very red, or if fever appears — seek an in-person breast exam to rule out infection or abscess. • If the bump does not improve in 2–3 weeks, consider a revisit for clinical evaluation.
Health Tips
• Most Montgomery gland blockages are harmless and settle without intervention. • Manipulation is the most common cause of recurrence — hands off is the key to healing. • Since your previous ultrasound was normal and the features are benign-looking, there is no immediate concern for breast cancer.
