Blocked Nose in babies
My baby is 4 months old. She has had a mild blocked nose for nearly eight days now. I am using nasal saline drops thrice a day. Her feeding pattern is normal and sleep as well. Is it normal to have a blocked nose for longer?

Greetings Yes, it is common for viral cold congestion to last up to 10 to 14 days in young infants.Since your baby's feeding and sleeping remain completely normal, her body is coping well.Continue using the nasal saline drops to loosen the mucus, especially right before feeds. You can also run a cool-mist humidifier nearby to keep the air moist and clear her nasal passages.Avoid any over-the-counter cold medicines, as they are not safe or effective for this age.Consult your pediatrician if she develops a fever, fast breathing, or struggles to feed.

It should subside soon. Avoid air pollution, jet mats, agarbatti, sambrani fumes any irritants in the air including kitchen fumes.

Continue normal saline nasal drops (2–3 drops in each nostril) and gentle suction if needed, especially before feeds and sleep. Ensure good hydration and avoid dust/smoke exposure. Please seek examination if the baby develops fever, difficulty breathing, poor feeding, persistent worsening congestion beyond 2 weeks, thick green discharge, or recurrent episodes.
