If the rattling sound is not severe and baby is comfortable and not irritable then continue with nasal saline drops
If u feel the rattling sound has increased and baby is uncomfortable with increase in respiratory rate kindly consult a nearby doctor
Simple remedies are saline nasal drops 4-6 hourly for 5-7 days. Vicks vaporub is safe for babies. If there moderate cough and fever consultation is necessary.
Continue saline nasal drops (Nasoclear) 1–2 drops in each nostril before feeds and sleep, followed by gentle suction if needed. Keep baby slightly upright after feeds and continue exclusive breastfeeding. Mild rattling sound is common at this age due to nasal/throat secretions. However, if baby develops fast breathing, chest retractions, fever, poor feeding, bluish discoloration or persistent worsening, get examined by a pediatrician immediately.
