A persistent bitter taste in the mouth (Dysgeusia) is a common clinical symptom that can stem from several distinct causes. Most frequently, it is a result of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) or GERD, where stomach acid or bile travels up to the throat. However, in a 40-year-old, we must also consider oral health issues (gingivitis), dry mouth (Xerostomia), or side effects from specific medications (like certain antibiotics or blood pressure meds). Occasionally, it can signal a deficiency in Zinc or Vitamin B12, or even a minor gallbladder issue affecting bile flow..
