Baby age :2 years. Birth weight was 1.94 kg and now at 24 months weight is 9.6 kg and height 85cm. Is the weight gain and height ok or on lesser side? I am offering him 3 major meals along with one snack everyday. Also baby is active through out the day and is a picky eater.

At 24 months, a weight of 9.6 kg and height of 85 cm are consistent with the lower percentiles of WHO growth standards, where the average is approximately 12 kg and 87 cm. Considering the low birth weight of 1.94 kg, this growth trend resembles a common "catch-up" pattern often seen in smaller infants. To encourage healthy gain, try offering nutrient-dense foods like avocados or nut butters and stick to a consistent meal schedule. Pediatricians often recommend tracking these measurements on a growth chart to ensure the child follows their own steady curve rather than just meeting averages.
Birth weight was on the lower side, but current height of 85 cm is reasonably okay for age. Weight of 9.6 kg is slightly on the lower side, especially if the child is a picky eater. If the baby is active, playful and developmental milestones are normal, it is usually not very concerning.
Next Steps
Try giving 3 main meals with 2 healthy snacks daily. Include protein-rich foods like curd, paneer, cheese, eggs, dal, khichdi, peanut butter etc. Avoid force feeding.
Health Tips
Regular growth monitoring is important. If weight gain remains poor, appetite is very low, or there are frequent illnesses, do consult your pediatrician for evaluation.
