Baby not gaining weight
My twin babies born premature 35.5 weeks. Now they are 15months. Twin 1 was 1.7 kgs at birth. Now he is 7.7 kgs. Twin 2 was 2.2kgs at birth and now he is 12kgs. I'm concerned about the weight of my twin 1. He doesn't take food properly. He hardly eats and drink milk. Is it normal to weigh just 7.7 kgs for 15 months old baby? How should i increase his weight? Please help.

You need not worry about both of them. Twin 1 had growth restriction from birth, so considering the birth weight and prematurity, babies present weight is acceptable. You need to monitor his growth by plotting it on a growth chart, which wil be done by your pediatrician when u visit for vaccination.  Catch up growth will take usually 2 years, which means now what you see is normal growth for twin 1.

It is not normal weight for twin I. You can give frequent small feeds rich in protein. Include egg , milk, soya beans, Vegetables, fruit juices, . Baby should catch up weight.

Undoubtedly your little one who weighs 7.7 has not caught up on weight . How are his other parameters , activity & development milestones .did you check his Hb etc ? Anyway it will be best to give him food rather than milk . You should give home made food like halua khichdi dalia etc with extra fat in them . Also if specific deficiencies are there they have to be supplemented like iron it D . Do expose his bare body to sun for Vit D . Keep him under continuous monitoring by pediatrician Even it can be done on video consults . Don’t worry he will catch up .

Your babies are preterms .It will take them time to gain weight. Probably take them 4 years to grow well .All preterms need that time.
Next Steps
Don’t over feed children in hope to increase their weight. Ensure that they take 3 milk feeds and 4 food meals with lunch and dinner being main meals.
Health Tips
Keep gap of 3 to 4 hours between meals

Hello. As they are premature, corrected age should be taken into account. Also we generally say, by one year they should triple the birth weight. Going by this, I think this is fine and your child will catch up soon. Regarding nutrition, talk to a Pediatrician and get a good diet chart and plan meals accordingly. Also your Pediatrician would be plotting your child’s weight in a growth chart and that will help you understand your child’s growth better.

Weight doesn't seem big worry as of now if child is free from other ailments like kidney, cardiac or respiratory issues and recurrent fevers and if playful and active.
Next Steps
feed child with dense food.. decrease milk intake. consult Pediatrician if doubt

1)I will say baby 1 weight is normal for this age and history of prematurity and low birth weight. 2)Secondly, I will say baby 2 has gained more than sufficient. 3)Broadly, child should double his birth Wt by 6 months (roughly), triple by a yr, quadruple by 2 yrs of age. 4) If baby 1 is playful, away from any serious health problem, cardiac problems, then I don't see any reason of worry. 5)Still we can plot growth on IAP growth chart for prematures.
