At 3rd week child should start gaining weight. If 2.5kg was recorded within 2 or 3 days, then there requires some work. Encourage breastfeeding. Breastfeeding trial after every 2 hours. Child should pass urine 6 to 8 times in a day. Do a weight check up every week till child starts gaining weight. Child should gain atleast 150-200gm in a week. If this urine frequency and weight gain is not achieved then consider top feeds.
