Your baby has low weight and poor solid intake, so focus should be on frequent, energy-dense feeds (khichdi with ghee, dal-rice, banana, potato, curd) along with continued breastfeeding/formula. MCT oil can be used, start with 1/2 tsp (2-3 ml) once daily, and if tolerated increase up to 1 tsp twice daily. Do not overuse as it may cause loose motions; ghee/butter are equally good alternatives.supplements or appetite stimulants should be only after pediatrician advice.

First: Is weight low? Yes. At 11 months: • Expected weight ≈ 8.5–9.5 kg • 7.1 kg = underweight (likely moderate malnutrition) So this child needs active nutritional intervention, not just supplements. ⸻ About MCT oil Yes, you can use MCT oil, but: • It is only an add-on, NOT a solution alone • Helps increase calories without increasing volume Safe dosage: • Start: 2–3 ml per day • Gradually increase to: 5 ml/day (1 teaspoon) • Divide in 2 feeds (mix in porridge, khichdi, mashed food) Important: • Start slowly → may cause loose stools / vomiting • Do NOT exceed 5–10 ml/day in infants without supervision ⸻ Bigger issue: Feeding refusal This is more important than MCT. Common causes at this age: • Excess milk intake (child not hungry) • Force feeding → aversion • Recent illness • Teething • Poor feeding routine ⸻ Practical feeding plan (VERY IMPORTANT) 1. Fix feeding schedule • 3 main meals + 2 snacks • Breast milk / formula: limit to 400–500 ml/day ⸻ 2. High-calorie foods (natural) Add these instead of relying only on oil: • Ghee → 1–2 tsp/day • Mashed banana + peanut powder • Egg yolk daily • Thick khichdi with dal + ghee • Curd + rice • Ragi porridge with jaggery • Potato + butter mash
