Weight is a little less as per age only. We have to assess height, head size, milestones and other things and then come to a conclusion. Don't look at weight only. Usually this is a temporary phase of not eating.. Visit a pediatrician
Mildly underweight.Since the baby is active and playful, this suggests no active illness.
Feed refusal may be due to behavioral feeding issues or inappropriate feeding practices rather than disease.
Ensure adequate complementary feeds (3-4 meals+ 1-2 snacks/day)/small frequent feeds along with breast feeding.
Give energy dense foods.
Check local causes like oral ulcers /teething.
Anaemia can also cause irritability and feeding issues.
Review weight after 2-4 weeks.
Consult a paediatrician for physical examination to assess growth/mile stones/to rule out underlying causes
Weight is on lower side for age, but activity and milestones are reassuring. This is common at 9–12 months where babies prefer breastmilk and refuse solids.
Continue breastfeeding but avoid feeding just before meals; give 3 meals + 2 snacks daily with energy-dense foods (khichdi with ghee, dal-rice, banana, potato, curd). Do responsive feeding (no force), repeat foods multiple times, and allow self-feeding.
You can give OTC multivitamin drops once daily; iron syrup (3 mg/kg/day) can help if intake is poor but better after pediatrician advice.
If weight gain remains poor or refusal persists, consult pediatrician for evaluation.
Good morning,
Weight is on the lower side, ideal weight should be around 9kg to 10kg
Milestones - he is sitting and crawling, near normal for his age
Height - to be measured
Next Steps
1. can you mention his height along with mothers and fathers height?
2. When is he demanding for breastfeeding more, night or afternoon?
3. what are the foods you have introduced to him ?
4. Are you a vegetarian or a non vegetarian?
Health Tips
we have to assess the height and weight to get a clear picture, 9 to 12 months children will start spitting out, they learn so don't worry it is not your food it is development. Then if you are a non vegetarian start him on egg, it gives a good amount of protein or if you are a vegetarian start him on panner.
