-Most Vitamin D3 supplements are commonly derived from lanolin (sheep wool source) rather than fish -They are usually considered vegetarian-friendly by many vegetarians, but not vegan -Strict vegan alternatives are available which are plant/lichen-derived Vitamin D3
Next Steps
-You can check the product label or contact the manufacturer to confirm the exact source used in your syrup -If you prefer completely plant-based products, you can try unived or nutrazee capsules depends on ur deficiency.
Health Tips
-Take Vitamin D supplements after food for better absorption -Also maintain sunlight exposure and adequate calcium intake -Do not stop treatment solely due to confusion about the source without discussing alternatives with your doctor -Contact me anytime on Practo for further consultation

Most Vitamin D3 supplements are derived from lanolin (sheep wool) — technically not vegan but generally accepted by vegetarians. If strictly avoid animal products, ask your doctor to switch to a plant-based D3 (lichen-derived) alternative. Book a paid consult with me to find a suitable vegetarian-friendly D3 brand for your dose.

It is excellent that you are being proactive about your dietary preferences. Most commercial Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) supplements, including many oral shots and syrups, are synthesized from Lanolin, which is a waxy substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals (sheep). While lanolin is an animal byproduct, it does not involve the slaughter of the animal, and many vegetarians consider it acceptable. However, it is not 'Vegan.' Fish-sourced Vitamin D is less common in modern oral shots but is still used in some soft-gel capsules."
Next Steps
The Absorption Secret: "Regardless of the source, always take your Vitamin D3 shot with a meal containing fat (like full-fat milk or yogurt). Vitamin D is fat-soluble and will not be absorbed properly on an empty stomach." Check for Excipients: "Sometimes the 'carrier oil' used in the syrup can be vegetable-based (like peanut or sunflower oil), but the active Vitamin D3 is almost always lanolin-derived unless specified otherwise." Caution: "Do not stop your Vitamin D treatment without finding a suitable alternative first. Correcting a deficiency is critical for your bone health and immunity, regardless of the supplement's source." Red Flags: "Consult a doctor if you experience any unusual allergic reactions, such as itching or swelling, after taking the first dose of the syrup."
