Anti Migraine medicine duration
Hello doctors, So I am taking anti migraine medicine inderal f 10, for almost 20 days now and got significant relief. Just want to know can I continue taking it in the long term? Does it have any side effects if taken in the long term? My doctor prescribed this for 1 month. But I was wondering if I stop taking it will the migraine pain come back?

“Hello. Inderal (propranolol) is commonly used as a preventive treatment for migraine and is often continued for a few months if there is good response. However, the exact duration and dose should be decided by your treating doctor based on your symptoms, blood pressure, pulse, and any other medical conditions. Long-term use is generally safe in appropriate patients, but it can have side effects such as low blood pressure, slow pulse, fatigue, sleep disturbance, or worsening of asthma in susceptible individuals. Periodic monitoring is advised. It is important not to stop this medication suddenly, as that can lead to worsening symptoms. Typically, if migraines are well controlled for a few months, the doctor may gradually taper it. Migraine may or may not recur after stopping, as it varies from person to person. I would recommend you follow up with your prescribing doctor before making any changes to the medication.”
