✓Most likely it's benign positional nerve compression,Because your hand strength is normal and this happens only at night, this is most likely temporary nerve pressure from posture..
Next Steps
✓rule out vitamin B12 deficiency

A sensation of weakness in one hand at night, with normal movement and finger control, is most commonly due to nerve compression, not muscle or brain damage.
Because it affects the left hand only and occurs when lying down or sleeping, serious causes like stroke are unlikely.
Common causes include:
• Ulnar nerve compression (elbow bent during sleep)
• Carpal tunnel syndrome (median nerve compression at wrist)
• Cervical spine nerve compression (neck posture, pillow issues)
• Less commonly: anxiety-related sensory awareness
Next Steps
• Modify sleep position (avoid bending elbow/wrist tightly)
• Use a neutral wrist splint at night (especially if hand tingles or feels numb)
• Ensure proper neck support pillow
• Observe if symptoms improve over 1–2 weeks
Health Tips
Consult a Neurologist if:
• Weakness becomes persistent during the day
• You develop numbness, tingling, or dropping objects
• Symptoms worsen or spread to arm/face
• No improvement after 2 weeks of posture correction
An Orthopedician may be helpful if neck pain or cervical issues are present.
A feeling of weakness in one hand at night, with preserved finger movement, is most commonly due to nerve compression related to posture during sleep. Causes can include cervical spine (neck) nerve compression, ulnar or median nerve compression (from elbow or wrist position), or early cervical spondylosis. True neurological weakness is less likely if daytime function is normal.
Next Steps
Start with a physician or neurologist consultation. If neck pain, tingling, numbness, or radiation to the arm is present, a neurology or orthopaedic (spine) specialist is appropriate.
Health Tips
Avoid sleeping on the affected arm, keep the neck in neutral position, and use a proper pillow. Limit prolonged mobile or laptop use before bed. If you notice progressive weakness, numbness, hand clumsiness, facial deviation, speech difficulty, or symptoms during the day, seek urgent medical care.
