Vitamin B12 level 359 pg/ml
Hello Doctor, I am a 29-year-old male. My recent Vitamin B12 level is 359 pg/ml (lab reference range 211–912). I frequently experience neck stiffness and mild fatigue, especially in the evening. Is 359 considered optimal, or should I start a B12 supplement? If supplementation is required, what dosage would be appropriate and for how long? Also, which form is better (methylcobalamin or cyanocobalamin), and can you suggest a reliable brand available in India? I do not have any major medical conditions. Please advise whether supplementation is necessary or if dietary changes are enough. I am vegetarian. Thank you.

Right now no supplements required. Do consume vit B12 sources on a daily basis like dairy, nuts and seeds. The reason for your fatigue and other issues need not be Vit B12. Do contact thru the app directly for a detailed evaluation

A Vitamin B12 level of 359 pg/mL falls within the laboratory reference range, but as a vegetarian, your intake sources are naturally limited. Mild fatigue can sometimes be linked to borderline levels, but dietary correction should be the first approach before considering supplements. Diet-Focused Guidance: - Include daily dairy intake such as milk, curd, paneer, and buttermilk, as these are reliable vegetarian B12 sources. - Add fortified foods like fortified plant milks, breakfast cereals, or nutritional yeast (check labels for B12 fortification). - Ensure adequate overall protein intake, as poor protein consumption can also contribute to fatigue. - Support absorption by maintaining good gut health through balanced meals and avoiding excessive processed foods. - Pair meals with a variety of whole foods to prevent other micronutrient gaps that may contribute to tiredness. - Neck stiffness is often posture-related, especially in desk jobs, and may not directly indicate B12 deficiency. At 359 pg/mL, focus on consistent dietary intake of B12-rich vegetarian foods and balanced nutrition. Reassess levels later if symptoms persist despite dietary improvements.

Hi Your B12 level is optimal as of now. No supplementation is required But I do not know your body wt, ht, level of work or exercise activity, levels of hydration to help u otherwise. Follow a diet pattern with mix of cereals in diet rice, wheat and ragi is combination too, have 3 to 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. For your age have atleast 2 glasses of milk( including coffee, tea,) and other milk products like curd, cheese, paneer and other alternative like tofu or almond milk for better muscle control and power. Consume atleast 2.5 litres a day. Follow moderate level of exercise. You will be fine
