UTI in 5 months old baby boy
Helo doc recently my 5 months old baby boy got UTI.. hez still on antibiotics course.. my concern is why he got this urine infection?? What could be the reasons??

Urinary tract anomalies can be there. Blood stream infection also common at this age

There are 2 reasons 1) hygiene- change of diapers , cleaning after passing stools are important and should be done maintaining sterility. 2) whenever a baby less than 1 year gets UTI we always do a USG abdomen, followed by a DMSA scan 3 months later to rule out common structural abnormalities of the urinary tract mostly PU (perurethral) valve which is seen in this age group.

Be sure to get a USG abdomen and DMSA scan done as mentioned above.
