If the pain is from uric acid related Gout, then 1. Colchicine tablets 0.5mg twice a day for three days 2. Once you are home from, blood tests for CBP, KFT 3. After two weeks, start Allopurinol 100mg daily (long term treatment ) 4. Avoid alcohol and have low purine diet (lots of information online which foods to avoid). 5. Every 3 months get uric acid level checked with the goal to get them down to normal range. Once that happens, blood tests for uric acid and KFT every six months. All the best. www.jgsr-health-education.in

Sudden severe foot pain with difficulty walking, especially if: • Pain is intense • Joint is swollen/red • Touching even bedsheet hurts • Big toe commonly involved This strongly suggests an acute gout attack, especially if your uric acid is high. During an acute attack:
Next Steps
If no kidney disease / no gastric ulcer / no allergy: Option 1 (Most effective early): ✔ Colchicine 0.5 mg • 1 tablet immediately • Then 0.5 mg after 1 hour • Then 0.5 mg once or twice daily (max 1.5 mg/day) Option 2: ✔ Etoricoxib 90 mg once daily after food (for 3–5 days) OR ✔ Indomethacin / Naproxen (if available) Avoid: ❌ Starting allopurinol now ❌ Heavy protein meals ❌ Alcohol If swelling is severe: ✔ Ice pack 10–15 minutes ✔ Keep foot elevated If fever present → need doctor evaluation to rule out joint infection.
Health Tips
✔ Drink 3 liters water daily ✔ Avoid red meat, alcohol, seafood ✔ Rest joint completely ✔ Wear loose footwear ✔ Do not massage the joint Once attack settles (after 1–2 weeks), then uric acid control plan should be started if recurrent. If this pain is very severe and first episode, it’s better to confirm diagnosis and kidney function before medication adjustment. If you share your uric acid level and any medical history (BP, kidney issues), I can guide more safely. Booking an online consultation will help manage this attack properly and prevent future painful episodes.
