Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT Stopping Deflazacort after 3 weeks at 6 mg is generally safe. It is not long or strong enough to cause dangerous steroid withdrawal. The reflux was a side effect, not a withdrawal effect. The oral fungal infection may still need antifungal medicines, but you do not need to worry about serious complications from stopping the steroid.

In general it need to be tapered and stopped. Suddenly stopping steroid medication can cause serious side effects, including a life-threatening adrenal crisis. When you take steroids for more than a few weeks, your adrenal glands produce less of their natural hormones, like cortisol. An abrupt stop doesn't give your adrenal glands time to recover, leading to a shortage of necessary hormones.
