Surgery stitches

My father underwent oral cancer surgery and discharged on 10june. His stitches were removed on 20th. But today i noticed there some thread coming out which I guess was missed to remove. Operation was done in neck to remove nodes . Kindly guide what to do? Should we remove this thread at home?
