Hello! You have a cervical disc problem, as confirmed on MRI. This means that you will always have intermittent neck pain, as the nerves are getting compressed. It is not appropriate to have pain-killers very frequently, as they can cause gastritis (swelling of stomach lining), as well as effect kidney function. Neuropathic pain is treated with Tab Gabapentin 300mg once daily at bedtime. This tablet can be taken regularly to calm the nerves. However, the most important component of treatment of a disc problem is physiotherapy. When pain is severe, as now, take a few sessions of IFT or SWD (by a physiotherapist). When the pain decreases, make sure you learn neck strengthening exercises from the physiotherapist, and do them daily.
Health Tips
Exercise is key to keeping pain to a minimum. A good posture and a healthy lifestyle will also contribute immensely. It is also important to take Calcium and Vitamin D3 supplements regularly for bone health. These are readily available as OTC drugs (Over-the-counter) from your nearest pharmacy.
