CRP stands for C reactive protein. It's a member of group called acute phase reactants (APR). An increase in the concentration of serum proteins that are referred to as acute phase reactants (APR) accompanies inflammation and tissue injury. CRP and many other APR can influence multiple stages of inflammation, and CRP has both proinflammatory and antiinflammatory actions, although the primary effect may be antiinflammatory . CRP can promote the recognition and elimination of pathogens and enhance the clearance of necrotic and apoptotic cells . Nothing to worry about your report. It's non specific marker and come positive in various condition.
