Spine surgery should be done for the right reasons. If he has only back pain with no fractures, then the actual cause for the back pain and the correct type of surgery should be done. Please make sure you see an Orthopaedic Spine surgeon and discuss the risks and benefits of surgery and also the reasons for the surgery before going ahead with it.
