For a few days I have been feeling a soft lump inside my anal canal when I insert my finger. The soft lump is in the right side of anal canal.
There's no bleeding during bowel movements but pains when I press that soft lump with my finger.
That's why I wanted to know what that soft lump is and how I can treat it.

Hello. I have reviewed your concern regarding the painful lump in your anal canal.
A soft, painful lump in this area can be caused by several conditions, and since it is tender to the touch, it requires a physical examination to differentiate between them.
1. Potential Clinical Considerations
Internal Hemorrhoid: These are swollen veins inside the rectum. While often painless, they can become tender if they become "thrombosed" (develop a blood clot) or if they prolapse (protrude outward).
Anal Abscess: This is a localized pocket of infection. It typically presents as a soft, extremely painful lump and may be accompanied by redness or a feeling of warmth in the area.
Anal Papilla/Polyp: Sometimes a small piece of normal tissue can become enlarged or inflamed, feeling like a soft lump.
Perianal Hematoma: A small collection of blood under the skin, often caused by straining during bowel movements, which can be quite painful to the touch.
2. Management and Next Steps
Avoid Self-Treatment: Because the lump is painful, do not attempt to "push it back" or apply medicated creams until a diagnosis is confirmed.
Warm Sitz Baths: Sitting in a tub of plain warm water for 10–15 minutes several times a day can help soothe the area and reduce inflammation, regardless of the cause.
Consult a Specialist: I strongly recommend an in-person evaluation by a General Surgeon or Proctologist. They will likely perform a Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) or a Proctoscopy to see exactly what the lump is.
Warning Signs: If you develop a fever, chills, or if the pain becomes so severe that you cannot sit or walk, please go to the Emergency Room immediately, as this may indicate an abscess that needs urgent drainage.
