Hi My Wife has a Small Lump on Right Thigh ( Inner side of Thigh, Just above Knee cap)
Though it is normally painless, when beaten on it, even gently, it causes big pain..
It is not reddish; It is in same skin colour as adjacent portions...
It exists for almost 10 years.. without any change in shape or colour..
Can I know what it is and how should I treat it?

This is most likely a benign lesion (lipoma / neurofibroma / epidermoid cyst). Long duration without growth is reassuring. Pain on pressure suggests nerve involvement.
Next Steps
Rx:
• No urgent treatment if size is stable
• USG soft tissue of thigh for confirmation
• Surgical removal only if pain increases or size changes
• Avoid frequent pressing or trauma
Hello, a picture of the same is needed for any opinion. Ideally, a proper physical evaluation should be done. Mostly should not be a cause for concern, still get a confirmation from a doctor after physical examination.
It's like lipoma and it's been for more than 10 years .Take an ultrasound of that site if u need.If It cause any problem ,u can go for elective surgery ( removol of the swelling) ,otherwise no need for surgery
Next Steps
The pain getting worse means ,go and consult the doctor
The swelling could be a lipoma or a dermatofibroma or a cyst.As it's been there for more than 10 years,it could be harmless. However to identify, you can get an musculoskeletal ultrasound of the affected area
Need more information.. and better if can be examined in person .. if it’s growing with time then you need to consult asap .. can contact me for further information
Take care
Based on the description, this lump is most likely a benign (non-cancerous) soft tissue lesion, especially given that it has been present for almost 10 years without any change in size, shape, or skin color. The most common possibilities in this situation are a lipoma, benign nerve-related swelling (neuroma), or a fibrous lesion.
The key point in your history is that the lump is painless at rest but causes sharp pain when pressed or hit, even lightly. This usually suggests that the swelling may be lying close to a nerve or containing nerve fibers, which is why even minor pressure produces significant pain. The absence of redness, skin changes, rapid growth, or systemic symptoms is very reassuring and makes serious conditions very unlikely.
Next Steps
In terms of management, there is no emergency since the lump has remained stable for many years. The next appropriate step would be a local ultrasound of the thigh, which can clearly identify whether the lump is fatty, fibrous, or nerve-related. This is a simple, non-invasive test and usually gives a clear diagnosis.
Treatment depends on symptoms rather than danger. If the lump is small, stable, and only occasionally painful, it can be safely observed. However, if the pain is bothersome or affecting daily activities, minor surgical removal is a definitive and curative option. Such procedures are usually straightforward when done electively.
Good luck! and do contact in case you need any surgical advice.
I need to know few other things before suggesting a treatment
1.If you don’t touch it at all, does it ever hurt on its own?
2.Does cold exposure (cold water, cold weather) make the pain much worse?
Based on the information provided so far, it is difficult to arrive at a definitive assessment. More images are needed to rule out other possible conditions, and a proper clinical history will help in correlating the findings and reaching an accurate evaluation.
Kindly consult
It may be a lipoma (a collection of fat).
If it causes any problem, it can be removed by surgery; otherwise, it can be left alone.
Please share a picture so I can take a look
This lump is most likely benign, such as a lipoma or nerve-related lump. An ultrasound will confirm the diagnosis, and treatment is usually simple or not required unless it causes discomfort.
Next Steps
see to general surgeon or orthopedic doctor for more management.
If it is not increasing in size or going through any changes. Leave it as it is. Surgery can be done for cosmetic purpose only.
If there are any changes needs to get an usg done.
It could be lipoma.
An ultrasound will confirm the diagnosis
Next Steps
Get an ultrasound done
