Sleep issue
Hi Doctor, I have been experiencing sleep issues for the past few days. I am unable to fall asleep on time, and even when I do, I don’t feel well-rested. I feel tired in the morning. Can I use melatonin tablets for this? Please advise.

Hello. Melatonin can be helpful for short-term use, especially if your sleep cycle has been disrupted by travel or screen use, as it helps signal to your brain that it is time to sleep. However, it is not a 'cure' for insomnia and may not improve the quality of your rest if the underlying cause is stress or poor sleep hygiene.
Next Steps
Try a low-dose melatonin supplement for 3–5 days. Simultaneously, focus on 'Sleep Hygiene': maintain a cool, dark room, avoid caffeine after 4 PM, and wake up at the same time every morning, even on weekends, to regulate your internal clock.
Health Tips
Be cautious, as excessive use of melatonin can lead to morning grogginess or vivid dreams. If your sleep issues are accompanied by anxiety, snoring, or persistent low mood, these may require a different approach. Do not use melatonin as a long-term solution without a medical evaluation
