Antibiotic medicines are not the standard primary treatment for anal fissures, they are used in specific cases where an infection is present. An anal fissure is can last longer than 6 to 8 weeks. Your experience of healing for a few days before the pain returns is common, the wound often begins to close but is reopened by the trauma of a hard stool or the pressure from a tight sphincter muscle.
