Skin getting dark, lost fair complexion

My skin was fair and glowing but I started work at steel plant my skin is getting dark due to pollution and heat. so could you tell me please what is reason behind it? how to get back my fair skin and radiant skin? what i do for protect from pollution and heat. Is it possible to get back my fair skin??
