Side of head pain
So, my brother fell down the stairs and also got hit by a wall straight on above his head which lead to minor bleeding..this was 5 years back ...since then he has a pain on the side of his head sometimes on one side sometimes on both the sides, throbbing pain which subsides when he lies down, even his sleep cycle is not maintained, also his timing of food is irregular, there was a time when he went outside in sun the pain used to start , which subsided when he used to take shower ... This has been really concerning with time ... I am attaching the image below for your clear understanding...the area where the pointer is please see that ...

Your brother's long-standing throbbing headache following a head injury 5 years ago is most likely a case of post-traumatic headache, which can persist for years after head trauma. The area shown in the image — the back and side of the head — along with worsening in sunlight and relief when lying down or with a shower, also suggests a possible vascular or occipital nerve component that needs proper evaluation.
Next Steps
Please consult a neurologist in person — this has been going on for 5 years and needs a proper clinical examination and likely a head MRI. Feel free to consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

From your description, the pain appears to be throbbing in nature, sometimes one-sided and sometimes on both sides, and seems to get triggered by sunlight/heat, irregular sleep, and irregular meals. These features can sometimes be seen in migraine-type headaches or post-traumatic headache (headache persisting after a previous head injury). Poor sleep schedule, dehydration, prolonged fasting, heat exposure, and stress can also worsen headaches. It would be important to know: • Whether there is nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light/sound, dizziness, blurred vision, or neck pain • Any weakness, numbness, blackouts, seizures, or memory problems after the injury • Frequency and duration of headache episodes • Whether pain is exactly at the site of injury or spreads elsewhere
Next Steps
For now, maintain proper sleep, regular meals, adequate hydration, and avoid prolonged sun exposure if it triggers symptoms. Since this has been ongoing for a long time after trauma, a clinical examination is advisable to decide whether further evaluation (such as imaging if indicated) is needed.

The symptoms are suggestive of migraine or post-traumatic headache following the old head injury. Triggers such as irregular sleep, missed meals, and sun exposure support this possibility. Possible causes can be Migraine,Post-traumatic headache ,Tension headache,Occipital neuralgia Recommended tests- First should be Neurological examination And Fundus examination MRI Brain is very useful Basic blood tests (CBC, ESR, blood sugar) As for now temporary can Take NSAID but don't take without proper consultation of Dr Hope you will find it beneficial .

The symptoms may be due to migraine, tension headache, or a nerve-related headache. Since the pain has been recurring for several years after a head injury, it would be better to get it evaluated once.
Next Steps
• Maintain regular sleep and meal timings. • Stay well hydrated. • Consult a General Physician/Neurologist if symptoms persist. • Seek urgent care if there is vomiting, vision changes, or weakness. • If you wish, you may also book a consultation through the platform for personalized medical advice.
