Regarding 2months old baby weight gain
My baby is now 53 days old. His birth weight is 3.350 kg. At the time of discharge his weight is 3.1kg. now he is only 3.9 kg. He is exclusively on breastfeeding. His urine count is more than 15 times per day. In between I tried to feed formula once which was prescribed by doctor at the time of his delivery because of his slow weight gain but he vomitted and tried to expressed the breastmilk and he is rejected. After 45 days of vaccination his poop is only one time per day. I don't understand why his gain is very slow. Please assist me.

Weight gain velocity is like this if breast milk is adequate and other factors are normal. First 10 days 10% of birth weight loss and on 10 th days of life birth weight is achieved. After that 20-30 grams per day is ideal weight gain in first three months. As in your baby birth weight was 3.35 kg now he is 58 days so calculating the amount of weight gain in total 48 days 3.35 plus 48 days)48 Days 20grams per day) = 3.35+960= 4.21 kg 4.21-3.9 =310grams is definitely less Increased your diet and frequency of feeding will increase the weight in baby donor worry.

Ok dear. I understand your worry. So the first 3 months weight gain has to be 30g/day. You can correct through breast feeding itself. Breastmilk is divided into two parts: fore milk and hindmilk. Foremilk which is the first part of breastmilk has lots of fluids and vitamins minerals etc. Hindmilk which is the second part of milk contains lots of fat. So when you are breastfeeding make sure to empty the whole breast then proceed to next breast. In case he doesn’t complete one breast and falls asleep during feeding then you can collect the milk from the breast he fed from and give that first f during the next feed. I hope I’m clear

Babies usually gain. 30 grams per day. I won't . Say. That he has got a poor weight gain. But may be slow.Just observe for one more month and regarding stools, the some Babies Pass 5 to 10 times per day and some babies pass once in three days or two days. As long as he's feeding well and urine output adequate, nothing much to worry.
