Rabies through a rat bite
I was bitten by rat 20 yrs ago. Though I know rats aren't the carriers of rabies normally though I read that some cases have been found. Also developing rabies after 20 yrs is also extremely rare.. .. Though I still fear developing it. What will you advice me in such a case? Is there any way to be sure of not developing rabies in the future. I read a man developed it after 25 yrs and this is making me insane.

You need not worry at all. Developing rabies due to rat bite is extremely rare. ( Rather not reported In India yet) And after 20 years, it's actually not possible. You have to just be careful in future in your encounter with stray dogs, cats, cows, camels, horses, pig, sheep or wild animals like monkeys, foxes, mongoose or bears. ( These are the most common animals that can spread rabies in India) Incase of bite or scratch by any such animal, make sure you get vaccinated and treated immediately. Hope this helps you.
