Query regarding medicines
Hello Doctor, My mother is having diabetes since 5 years . She is going to the same doctor for check up since then but now the doctor changed and he also changed the medicines . Earlier she used to take - metformin 2000mg, pregabalin, mecobalmine (she has leg pains ),gilmepride and ramipril Now prescribed ones - Metformin 2000mg, atrovstatin, pioglitazone 30mg , natrilix and ramipril My mother's HbA1c is 6.5 . I got to know that pioglitazone is a banned drug .  But the doctor says to continue . Plz suggest if she can avoid it or should she continue? Thanks and regards, Preeti

Pioglitazone I not a banned drug. It can be used certainly. It is not given in people with heart failure or with osteoporosis. Every drug has its pros and cons and discuss it with your doctor
