Pregnancy for Single Kidney Women
Hi,My wife has had a single Left kidney since birth which came to know in Aug 2023 after getting Kidney infection due to travel, taking pain cular tablet, and been hospitalized for 20 days and undergone with dialysis for 5 times. The highest Creatine level went up to 8.1. During discharge it was 7.1, and after discharge she is just taking Medicines and doing monthly/by monthly blood check and consulting doctor. Present Creatine level is 3.1(Slowly getting reduce) and she feels absolutely normal like before she was. Now we want to plan our pregnancy and have Kids. Will there be any problem for her & baby if she gets pregnant. Please give us a better suggestion, provide guidance and precautions.

According to the guidelines a creatine less than 1.5 is safe to proceed for pregnancy,in your wife case her creatine 3.1 one thing is thier will be hormonal disturbances which makes it difficult to get pregnant apart from that there is increased risk of mom and child complications.i would advice against it
Next Steps
wait till creatine comes down to around 2 or less.if u want to proceed after know thier risk for progressing to ckd , worsening htn and low birth weight, premature babies even intra uterine death
