Post anxiety somatic symptoms
I had health anxiety problem before 12 months and for which i have used anxiety medications for 6months after that i have stopped gradually in tapering manner for every two weeks. Clonazepam 0.5mg for 30 days and tapered for next 10days. Used nexito 10mg for 5 months and then tapered 5mg for next 1 month. Since from last 2-3 weeks i was feeling somatic symptoms like nerve pulling, muscle tension, anxiousness because of it, repetitive thinking for the same. I have been prescribed 5mg nexito and Clonazepam 0.25mg on SOS basis. And i am using it from last one week. Why such somatic symptoms appear even after 6months treatment and how long do I need use medications. Even i am experiencing some foginess, confusion, negative thinking etc., when using this medication.

Hey, I can totally understand how frustrating it must be for you to complete the treatment and still get the symptoms again. First of all, i want to tell you that anxiety is something that takes time to go, and honestly it does not go permanently. We all have some sort of anxiety, sometimes it's severe, for which we require medications. Yours also was severe, that's why doctor prescribed you medications. After stopping medication it doesn't cure anxiety, rather now you nervous system is at a better position that by few good exercises you can manage your anxiety.
Next Steps
Do not worry, if you feel confused, consult the psychiatrist once again. It's better that after evaluation we decide on your different treatment options too.

Hi Health anxiety makes the nervous system over-sensitive to normal body sensations. Even after proper treatment, stress or overthinking can reactivate muscle tension, nerve sensations, and repetitive thoughts. It doesn’t mean treatment failed — it means your anxiety circuit got triggered again. Mild fogginess or dullness can happen with Nexito or clonazepam, especially in the beginning. Medication duration varies, but long-term recovery depends more on CBT than tablets. Discuss dose concerns with your psychiatrist. Take therapy. Hello. Thank you for explaining your history so clearly. What you are describing can sometimes happen after medications are tapered or stopped, especially when the underlying anxiety tendency is still present. Physical sensations such as muscle tension, “nerve pulling,” and repetitive health-related thoughts are common ways in which anxiety can re-express itself. This does not mean the previous treatment failed. It often means the nervous system is still sensitive and may need a longer period of stabilization. The fogginess or confusion you are noticing can occasionally occur with medications like clonazepam, particularly when used regularly or in sensitive individuals. This is something that should be reviewed with your treating doctor rather than adjusting medicines on your own. Treatment duration for anxiety conditions varies from person to person. Many individuals benefit from continuing medication for a sufficient stabilization period along with psychological strategies that help the body and mind learn to respond differently to physical sensations and worry.
Next Steps
A review consultation with your treating psychiatrist would be helpful to reassess symptom patterns, medication dosage, and whether psychological interventions such as CBT-based strategies for health anxiety and somatic symptoms may be useful alongside medication.
Health Tips
• Avoid repeatedly checking bodily sensations, as this can increase symptom awareness. • Maintain regular sleep, physical activity, and structured daily routine. • Practice slow breathing or grounding exercises when physical tension appears. • Do not abruptly stop or change prescribed medicines without medical advice. With the right adjustments and support, these symptoms usually become manageable again.
