Your Pap smear shows superficial and intermediate squamous cells. Superficial means the cells on the surface of the cervix. Intermediate means the cells in the middle layer (between the surface and the base) . They are also normally seen. The cells from the bottom layer should not come in the Pap smear normally. Inflammatory background means that some infection is also there (it is almost always seen). Metaplastic cells means that the cells which are in transformation, going from one phase to the other. They normally have a sinister implications. In short the Pap smear means that at present the report is normal but it calls for repeated examination every six months.

It's a normal report. Just some infection. No precancerous changes.
