My Pap smear report is as follows: Microscopy says- Smear examined shows superficial and intermediate squamous cells. Mild inflammation present. Interpretation says- negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy. Kindly tell me what this means and if it needs urgent attention.Thanks.

Your pap smear shows cells which donot have any premalignant changes and reparative changes are present It signifies in lay man term that everything is fine U shouldn't worry Repeat pap smear preferably lbc with hpv testing after three years Let me take this opportunity to also sensitise u towards the need for hpv testing and vaccination if not done already
