I've been having pain in my tooth while eating. I has earlier been filled by a doctor.

If u have pain while eating only..then there can be two things Either the filling done is little high...which has to be reduced by the dentist...then u will feel ok. Or the filling was too deep that it involved the pulp of tooth and now would go for a root canal treatment followed by crown.

If the filling is intact but your tooth is still hurting then it may require a root canal treatment as the cavity may have been too deep and affected the nerve inside the tooth.
