My father is having ear pain from the past few days. Local doctors are saying that ear drums are having hole and it needs to be fixed. So they are saying that operation has to be done to fix the problem. I want to know whether the operation is really necessary.

As per your description there might be a possibility of ear infection as there's pain in the ear.. first get treated for the infection..then plan for surgery if there is perforation in the ear drum..
