Pain in left knee cap
I had met with an accident a month. Nothing serious. But there is my pain on my left leg's knee cap if i press it or rest my body on left knee. I don't experience any pain when walking or running. What could be the problem?

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. This condition is called as patellar osteochondritis , it occurs due to the damage in cartilage of patella present behind the patella or knee cap.
Next Steps
go for physitherapy..ultrasonic therapy for healing, tens for muscle relaxation and wax therfapy for reducing inflammation may required . take rest. then the exercises(strengthening and stretching) are to be done and very much important.
Health Tips
at home: give rest to the knee, avoid full weight bearing to the painful knee and hot water fomentation and some painkiller gel are temporarily helpful.

It's possible that there was an injury to the cartilage behind your knee cap. These are usually missed on the xray. If the injury was minor the pain is likely due to disappear within a month's time. Often due to injury, you may not be using the knee normally. This leads to atrophy (disuse) of the muscle in the front of the thigh. That can lead to abnormal loading of the knee cap leaving to pain.
Next Steps
I would concentrate on quadriceps stretching and strengthening exercises for the moment. This would help unload forces on your knee cap leaving to relief from pain.
Health Tips
In case pain persists beyond 3 weeks, you need to visit the nearest ortho surgeon who can examine the knee and prescribe medication or order MRI scans. If you develop pain on performing the exercises, then obviously you should avoid them and visit the doctor immediately.
