to overcome negativity, you can follow below steps
1. Release your stored emotions through writing, talking, crying, drawing
2. Forgiveness for self & every person who has hurt you
3. Journaling consciously writing +ve thoughts
4. Gratitude practice
5. Mediation or breathing exercise
So there can be many reasons for one to be negative or pessimistic. When we are checked for everything in our childhood we can develop lack of decision making capacity which in turn creates confusion and negativity.
