Outside of foot pain
I am a high school runner and i have been having really bad pain on the outside of my left foot kind of near the base of the fifth medatarsal. It hurts to walk and put on shoes, and it hurts to push on that specific spot. This has been going on for a couple weeks now and is very painful and i am not sure what's wrong, my mom is just blowing it off like it's no big deal but i am worried.

Good morning this is Dr Mathur, foot and ankle surgeon practicing in Delhi NCR. If you have pain at the base of the fifth metatarsal, it means that you are bearing most of the weight on the outer border the foot. This may arise due to a high arch foot due to muscle imbalance. Stress fracture on the base of the first metatarsal is also a possibility. Thus a thorough clinical evaluation of your foot good weight bearing x rays of the foot and ankle will be helpful.
