Namastey Your situation needs a balanced and careful approach. What you are describing is a recurrence of symptoms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorder after stopping long-term psychiatric medication. This is not uncommon—these conditions often require sustained management, and sudden discontinuation can lead to relapse or worsening. Regarding your liver, the previous elevation in SGPT (ALT) test and SGOT (AST) test with fatty changes suggests drug-induced or metabolic liver stress in the past. The fact that your liver has normalized after stopping medication is a positive sign, but it also means your system is sensitive and requires a liver-safe, long-term strategy. From an Ayurvedic perspective, OCD and anxiety correlate with Manovaha Srotas Dushti, primarily involving Vata imbalance (especially Prana and Vyana Vayu) along with Rajasik aggravation of mind. Your history also indicates Pitta involvement affecting the liver (Yakrit dushti). So the goal is not just symptom suppression but simultaneous mind stabilization and liver protection.
Next Steps
You should not try to manage this condition casually or only with home remedies, because long-standing OCD with relapse requires structured and supervised care. Ayurveda can help significantly, but it works best when treatment is individualized and phased—starting with calming the nervous system, followed by deeper correction of doshic imbalance and strengthening mental resilience. Equally important, avoid self-stopping or restarting any strong medication without supervision. If symptoms are severe (intrusive thoughts, compulsions interfering with daily life), a co-management approach may sometimes be required initially. For a proper assessment of your mental state, liver sensitivity, and overall constitution, you should consider a guided treatment plan. You may connect with us at 9 3 1 5 6 6 1 5 6 5 for detailed evaluation and personalized Ayurvedic management aimed at both mental stability and maintaining normal liver function safely over the long term.
Health Tips
Your recovery will depend heavily on daily discipline. For the mind, establish a fixed routine—sleep and wake timings must be consistent, as irregularity aggravates Vata and worsens anxiety. Reduce screen exposure, especially at night, and avoid overstimulation (excess social media, disturbing content). Gentle practices like meditation, pranayama (especially slow breathing), and grounding activities are highly beneficial for calming obsessive thought loops. For liver support, keep your diet light, clean, and non-irritating. Avoid fried, processed, spicy, and packaged foods, as well as alcohol. Favor warm, freshly cooked meals and maintain proper hydration. Do not skip meals or overeat—both can disturb metabolism and indirectly affect mental health. Also, avoid suppressing emotions; instead, channel them through journaling, talking, or guided therapy. OCD improves when both biological and psychological aspects are addressed together, not in isolation. With the right structured approach, it is possible to reduce OCD symptoms significantly while keeping your liver stable, but consistency and proper guidance are the key. Thank you

“OCD and anxiety can be managed with Ayurveda, but since you had very high liver enzymes earlier, medicines must be selected very carefully. Avoid self-medication, as some herbs can also affect the liver. A combined approach focusing on mind management, digestion and safe medicines is needed. Please consult me so I can assess your condition and guide a liver-safe, personalized treatment plan.”

Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can be effectively managed with Ayurveda when approached in a structured and consistent way. In Ayurveda, OCD is understood as a मनोविकार (mental imbalance), often involving vitiation of Vata and Pitta, along with disturbance in Manas (mind). Management may include: • Personalized Ayurvedic medicines • Lifestyle and dietary corrections • Mind-calming therapies like Shirodhara Regular sessions and multiple sittings of Shirodhara can help in: • Calming the nervous system • Reducing anxiety and repetitive thought patterns • Improving mental clarity and sleep With proper guidance and consistency, significant improvement can be achieved over time.
