New born haircut

Asked for Male, 30 Years

Doctor asked not to cut hair before 1 month for newborn (26th july born). Is there any specific reasons? My baby had jaundice and some navel infection at birth. Religious requirement is to shave head on 7th day of birth.

It is ideal to get the head of a baby shaved when the head gets harder and can withstand small scratches.However, it may not be safe as scalp of newborn babies is very soft(risk of meningitis?)
