Her Haemoglobin is very low. The cause needs to be investigated.  It also needs to be determined whether she has iron deficiency ( microctic)or vit. B12 deficiency  ( macrocytic) or normochromic anemia, that occurs in kidney failure,  cancer, Rheumatoid arthritis, etc conditions,  i.e. with no significant nutritional deficiency. She needs to take more of green, leafy vegetables,  pumpkin, beetroot,   pomegranate,  whole grains, nuts, apple, jaggery as sweetener.

Your mom’s hemoglobin (Hb) at 6 g/dL is severely low (normal for women is usually 12–15 g/dL). Even though she has no symptoms right now (which is possible in chronic/slow-developing anemia), this level is serious and needs proper treatment to avoid future problems like weakness, breathlessness, heart strain, or dizziness. Livogen-Z is a good choice — it contains: • Ferrous fumarate (iron) • Folic acid • Zinc • Vitamin B12 These are exactly what is needed for most cases of iron-deficiency anemia (the most common cause of low Hb).
Next Steps
1. How to take Livogen-Z: • Dose: Usually 1 tablet once a day (after food or with a meal). • Best time: Take it in the morning or afternoon after breakfast or lunch — never on empty stomach (causes stomach upset). • With: Take with a glass of water or orange/lemon juice (vitamin C helps iron absorption). • Avoid: Do not take with tea, coffee, milk, calcium tablets, or antacids within 2 hours — they block iron absorption. • Swallow whole — do not crush/chew (unless doctor says). 2. How long to take for maximum benefit: • Take continuously for at least 3–6 months (even after Hb becomes normal). • Goal: First raise Hb to 10–12 g/dL (usually 1–2 months with good response), then continue 2–4 more months to rebuild iron stores in the body (ferritin). • Total duration: Often 4–6 months or longer if cause is ongoing (e.g., heavy periods, poor diet). • Retest Hb after 4 weeks, then every 4–8 weeks until normal, then check ferritin to decide when to stop or reduce. 3. Important: • See her doctor (general physician or hematologist) soon (within 1–2 weeks) to: • Confirm the cause of anemia (iron deficiency? B12/folate? bleeding? thalassemia?) • Do tests: Serum ferritin, B12, folic acid, stool for occult blood (if any doubt of GI bleed). • Rule out serious causes (very low Hb without symptoms can sometimes be chronic). • If Hb doesn’t rise in 4 weeks or she develops symptoms, may need iron injections or blood transfusion (rarely).
Health Tips
• Give her iron-rich foods daily: spinach, beetroot, dates, jaggery, pomegranate, raisins, chicken/liver (if non-veg), lentils. • Pair with vitamin C: oranges, amla, lemon, guava — eat together with meals. • Watch for side effects of Livogen-Z: black stools (normal), mild stomach upset (common). If severe pain/vomiting, stop and see doctor. • Encourage rest, avoid heavy work until Hb improves. • Drink plenty of water — helps overall. She is lucky to have started treatment early — with regular Livogen-Z + diet + follow-up, most people reach normal Hb in 2–3 months and feel much better. For exact dose/duration or if she has other medicines/diseases (e.g., acidity, kidney issue), consult her doctor or share more details online. Take care of her — she’ll improve with this plan
