Based on your symptoms, this appears to be an episode of colitis/infective bowel irritation or altered bowel habit, for which you have already been started on appropriate medications including antibiotics, probiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines.
However, you have taken the medicines for only 4 days, and in many bowel-related conditions it can take 5–7 days or sometimes longer to see significant improvement. So it may be a little early to conclude that the treatment has completely failed.
Important observation:
Passing stool 3–4 times daily may still be acceptable in some people if stools are formed and there is:
* No blood
* No fever
* No significant abdominal pain
* No weight loss
* No dehydration
But since this is a new change for the last 15 days, it should not be ignored if persistent.
If symptoms continue even after completing treatment:
You may require further evaluation such as:
* Stool routine/microscopy
* Stool culture
* CBC and inflammatory markers
* Gastroenterology/surgical consultation
* Occasionally colonoscopy if symptoms are prolonged
At present, complete the prescribed course, follow dietary precautions, and monitor symptoms closely. If there is no improvement after finishing treatment, do not continue self-medication blindly — get properly evaluated to identify the exact cause.
Next Steps
* Continue the prescribed medicines for the full advised duration unless your doctor asks you to stop
* Maintain a bland, light diet
* Avoid:
* Spicy/oily food
* Outside food
* Alcohol/smoking
* Excess tea/coffee
* High-protein heavy meals temporarily
* Drink adequate fluids and ORS if needed
Health Tips
Seek urgent medical attention if you develop:
* Blood or mucus in stool
* Severe abdominal pain
* Fever
* Vomiting
* Weight loss
* Night-time diarrhea
* Weakness/dehydration
