There is no harm in receiving an MMR dose after having already received MR doses. It may even improve your baby's overall immunity status the government MR vaccine does not protect against Mumps. The government prioritises Measles and Rubella because they are more severe and have higher mortality rates, whereas Mumps is generally considered less severe.
Next Steps
Since your baby is 6 months old, you have time to decide, as the first dose is not due until 9 months. If you start with the government's MR vaccine at 9 months, you can still switch to the MMR vaccine later at a private clinic to get the Mumps protection.
Health Tips
Like any vaccine, additional doses may cause mild, temporary symptoms such as a low-grade fever or redness at the injection site.
