Methylprednisolone

My doctor prescribed me Methylprednisolone 8mg tablet 3 times a day for 5 days and then 2 times a day after 5 days.
Since it is a steroids, is it safe to take 3 times a day for 5 days.
This tablet is prescribed for caugh and throat related issue which I am facing for more than a week.
