The exercises mostly had neck tilting upwards and back. . Use of an adjustable cervical collar is also recommended. Kindly help with the following: 1.. when I do these exercises and tilt my neck backwards I feel dizzy. Is it normal or shall I stop the exercises and consult with other speciality.Read somewhere that this dizziness is normal and will subside as my body gets 2. Is there any advantage of an  adjustable cervical collar over a standard soft cervical collar? 3. Which will be the right specialist to treat these issues? 4. What can be the cause of dizziness while exercising. Kindly help

Dizziness while tilting neck backwards is NOT normal. Stop that movement immediately. It may be due to: • Vertebral artery compromise • Cervicogenic dizziness • Inner ear sensitivity triggered by neck position What to do: • Avoid neck extension (backward bending) • Focus on chin tuck & isometric neck exercises • Maintain proper posture (no sudden movements) Cervical collar: • Only for short-term use (few hours/day) • Prolonged use can weaken neck muscles • No major advantage of adjustable over soft collar in most cases Right specialist: • Physiotherapist (primary rehab) If dizziness continues even without movement → further evaluation is needed. I can guide you with a safe exercise protocol specific to your condition 👍 Dr Rajesh Pal, PT, PhD

Thank you for sharing your detailed history. 1. The dizziness you are feeling while tilting your neck backward is not considered normal and should not be ignored. It may be due to cervical spine involvement, muscle imbalance, or sometimes vascular compromise. I would advise you to avoid neck extension exercises for now and not push into movements that cause dizziness. 2. Regarding cervical collar, an adjustable cervical collar provides better support and customized fitting compared to a soft collar, but it should be used only for a short duration and under guidance, as prolonged use may weaken neck muscles. 3. The right specialist for your condition would be a Neurologist or Orthopedic Spine Specialist, along with a Physiotherapist for guided rehabilitation. 4. The possible causes of dizziness during exercise can include: • Cervical instability or reduced disc space (C5-C6) • Muscle tightness or spasm • Vertebral artery involvement (in rare cases)
Next Steps
I would strongly recommend a proper clinical evaluation before continuing exercises. Your exercise program may need modification based on your symptoms.
Health Tips
Please do not ignore these signs and continue exercises only under professional guidance

If you feel dizziness while tilting your neck backward, it is better not to push into that movement initially. Mild light-headedness can sometimes occur due to cervical muscle tightness or sudden position change, but persistent dizziness should be avoided perform exercise for pain free ROM and there are some exercise for Diziness also . Muscle tightness also cause Diziness . Altered proprioception from cervical joints also cause Diziness
Next Steps
Need to consult online for better treatment and diagnosis for proper history and assessment
Health Tips
An adjustable cervical collar provides better support and allows controlled positioning of the neck compared to a standard soft collar. However, collars should be used only for short periods because prolonged use may weaken neck muscles. Need posture correction exercise need to consult neurologist also if severe problem you have Sudden neck extension compressing sensitive cervical structures can cause Diziness

Greetings If tilting the neck backward causes dizziness then kindly terminate the exercises. We must improve the proprioception (joint position sense) of the cervical muscles, also we need to improve the stability of the muscles. Strengthening of the trapezius and postural correction in such a way that the neuromuscular load reduces.
Next Steps
Please consult a Physiotherapist who can help you with the exercises

Kindly get a consultation with a nearby physio and get a proper amount of movement and exercise program along with your neurologist The main thing is you never mention the pain, so need to understand your biomechanics and why you took the x-ray loss of lordosis and reduced disc space you seen in the x-ray, but what you feel and how is your movements in the neck that need to know Only tilting your neck alone and wearing the cervical color its not going to help for your root cause

Greetings from Rid of Pain Physiotherapy U need to start the Physiotherapy under the guidance and advice of the best physiotherapist near. Don't use a collar, it will make your muscles more weak and not helpful at all. Only the best solution is to eliminate the cause and the cause can be resolved with Physiotherapy only.

Loss of cervical lordosis is a common non pathological finding even in normal people. Tilting neck upwards and backwards will not increase strength in the neck ( it's not of much use) . No matter which exercise you do, your symptoms should not worsen. If symptoms arise during an exercise, immediately stop it. Dizziness on backward bending could be a problem of Upper Neck . Adjustable collar could be more comfortable while wearing than a standard collar but wearing collars will not fix your problem. I advise you to meet other physios who could analyse your upper cervical and prescribe exercises with precision.
