Lft report
My daughter had a fever, so the doctor gave her Mankind Paracetamol and Mefenamic Acid Suspension medicine. After one day she was absolutely fine by the Grace of God. We've also run some tests on her. Her LFTs (liver function tests) showed an SGOT of 65.5 uU/L, an AST:ALT ratio of 1.94, and a bilirubin level of 0.28. Are these reports normal?

If no symptoms these reports can be considered normal...however please avoid mefenamic acid or ibugesic for fever control...do tepid sponging and plain paracetamol usage for fever control.

SGOT (AST) = 65.5 U/L This is mildly elevated. In young children, normal AST can go up to around 40–50 U/L depending on the lab. A value of 65 is only a mild rise. AST:ALT ratio = 1.94 This ratio alone is not very important in children unless liver enzymes are significantly elevated. Mild variations are common during viral infections. Bilirubin = 0.28 mg/dL This is normal. Most important point: After a recent fever (likely viral), mild temporary elevation of liver enzymes is very common. It usually settles on its own within 2–3 weeks. Paracetamol in proper doses does not cause liver damage. Short-term mefenamic acid also usually does not cause significant issues in a healthy child. When to worry: * Persistent vomiting * Yellow eyes/skin * Dark urine * Very high enzyme levels (3–5 times normal) * Child looking sick What to do: * No need to panic. * Avoid unnecessary medicines. * Repeat LFT after 2–3 weeks if advised by your doctor. From the values you shared, this looks like a mild, temporary elevation, most likely post-viral and not dangerous.

Hello ..This mild elevation of SGOT is common during viral fever and it will become normal with in a couple of weeks..other two parameters are normal..
Next Steps
Now just focus on her hydration and nutrition and no need to repeat LFT ..
