My vitamin d levels were low in blood test checkup which was 20.92 nmol/l. Calcium in blood was 9.4, ok. All other results were ok. Recommended depura 60k IU weekly for 12 weeks. After taking one dose I am experiencing leg cramps for past 5 days. Why it is happening?

Leg cramps are unlikely related to vitamin d itself,it could be dehydration or magnesium or other minerals disorders.Take magnesium bisglycinate once a day for a few days along with vitamin E Cap.Drink adequate amount of water
Hi.
Certainly not because of vitamin D.
Most common cause is dehydration. So keep urself hydrated. It will be okay.
If doesn’t get better, please contact me
Your vitamin D is low, so the dose is correct.
Leg cramps after starting it are usually not due to vitamin D itself. More common causes are magnesium deficiency, dehydration, or muscle fatigue.
Drink enough fluids, consider magnesium-rich diet/supplement, and continue the medicine. If cramps persist or worsen, get electrolytes checked.
Please consult me for proper evaluation and treatment.
This is vitamin D deficiency under treatment, and cramps are likely due to electrolyte imbalance (especially magnesium deficiency) or sudden calcium metabolism changes after starting high-dose vitamin D.
Next Steps
-Continue Vitamin D (Depura 60K IU), once weekly, for 8–12 weeks
-Repeat Serum Calcium, Vitamin D after 4–6 weeks
Health Tips
-Stay well hydrated
-Do regular calf stretching exercises
-Include magnesium-rich foods (nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables)
-Cramps usually settle in few days, do not stop vitamin D unnecessarily
