No, you should not remove the plaster before the assurance of the union by an x-ray. This is a joint which bears the body weight, it should be completely united and strong before any weight bearing activity. And after the removal of plaster Physiotherapy for 6-8 weeks is a must to get complete joint range, muscle strength, coordination and balance. It can become completely ok if you follow the same regime.

Hi..you can definitely walk..but will have to undergo some sessions of physiotherapy so that it becomes easier to take weight on affected leg. Because of plaster there will be swelling so exercises will help you recover faster and better. Since you are in Mumbai..can contact me also anytym..Thank you.

Hi there. To be honest the treatment depends entirely on your treating doctor and the xray. Cast can be continued varying from 4-6 weeks depending on your fracture pattern. If you can upload the xray I can be in a better position to guide you. As far as weight bearing is concerned. Ideally you can start weight bearing as tolerable gradually increasing to full weight bearing.

That being said, since I have not seen your xray, its better to continue the treatment as advised by your orthopedist. Hope this helps. Thank you.
