My father in law is 76 yrs old, a few months bck, he got left knee swelling & pain, hearing sounds while moving his legs.
When consulted with ortho, he says, liquid inbetwen joints have gone down, so pain.
he was gvn roseflex, bt no improvement in pain.

Hi your father in law has osteoarthritis which is very common in this age group. The cartilage once damaged cannot regrow by any means. This means we can just offer symptomatic treatment and you need to strengthen your Quadriceps and hamstring muscles. Don't squat or sit crossed legged. In late stage with grade 4 osteoarthritis and severe pain one has your go in for knee replacement surgery also. I hope this was helpful
