For any fracture 4 weeks of immobilisation is minimally required. Wether you can switch to Tiber means of immobilisation depends on the fracture type and position. To immobilise alternatives are synthetic cast or slab which is lighter and pop free. Also brace can be applied if fracture is incomplete etc.
